Curriculum
Napier Intermediate strives to cater for the individual needs of the students through the New Zealand curriculum and the values of the Treaty of Waitangi.
All curriculum areas are covered over the year with an emphasis of the key competencies with special focus on the three R’s: respect, relationships and responsibility.
Students are encouraged and challenged through a variety of activities individually, small group, whole class, and House.
Classroom
Classroom programmes are centred around the needs and interests of the children.
Each term there is a school focus. The students discuss what each focus means and how it applies to them within the class, school, and community.
A termly Student Voice survey is completed by students to provide teachers with valuable feedback and feedforward around classroom programmes and learning environments.

OUR SCHOOL
Our modern learning environments are light, bright and interactive. Students enjoy the opportunities to share their ideas and learning in a supportive, collaborative, open environment. These modern learning environments support strengths-based teaching offering students and teachers the flexibility, openness and access to resources to design personalised learning programmes.
Take a risk, try something new, get better at something you already do, be part of a team. The vast array of cultural, sporting and music opportunities at Napier Intermediate ensures that every student has the opportunity to get involved, make connections and develop their talent.
‘Hands on’ technology programmes develop creativity, innovation and resilence. Students experience a wide range of technologies designed to inspire and challenge. Using machinery, scientific equipment, and a variety of mediums students discover talents they didn’t know they had.
Digital technology – one-to-one devices ensure that all learners have the opportunity to become digitally capable individuals, building their skills so they can be innovative creators of digital solutions, moving beyond solely being users and consumers of digital technologies.
